Bianca Hansen-Hamburger - Chartered Counselling Psychologist

Through my experience as a psychologist, I understand how difficult it is to decide to seek therapy. We often feel despondent, scared and ashamed. I offer a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space to speak. With a decade of experience in mental health care, addiction facilities and private practice, I have built my professional reputation on a core belief in respect, confidentiality, and ethical practice.

Through speaking, we can make sense of our thoughts and behaviour; essentially, we can see ourselves from a non-pathological viewpoint and work towards correcting what is not working. A well-regarded psychologist once remarked, “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”, meaning that sometimes we can only see things in a particular way. We will find new ways of seeing things through our work together and move you towards healthier ways of being.

You have unique strengths and abilities. Utilising these, we can build towards a healthier, more meaningful life. I am committed to assisting you through this process to well-being.

My primary field of interest is child sexual abuse, and I have spent most of my career working in South Africa with people who have experienced extensive trauma. I now work in London, UK, and online with South African clients, offering evidence-based psychological services to teenagers, young adults, and adults. I have also spent years volunteering with at-risk children in mental health call centres, NGOs in marginalised communities and substance abuse treatment.

People of all cultures, races, religions, and sexual and gender orientations are welcome as clients. I always keep an open mind and endeavour to help you move forward in a way that makes you feel supported and comfortable.
